About Us
Our Story
Smile Big Tx began in the spare bedroom of Founder and President, Ashton Hammer, with a few close friends, an overused Cricut, and a mission to make an impact.
Our vision of providing support and outreach to the LGBTQ+ youth and young adults spread faster than we could have ever imagined as the community welcomed our movement with open arms.
Within a few short months, this seedling program grew into a full-fledged movement, and we continue to grow and blossom at an incredible pace by the day.
Over the course of five months we were granted official 501c3 status, a dedicated Crisis Hotline phone number, founded the Prism Club, and partnered with companies across the Amarillo community to create our SafeSpace program that provides resources and support across the city, and eventually across the country.
We hope you’ll support and join us in our efforts to make sure our LGBTQ+ youth and young adults are able to Smile Big.

Smile Big is fighting to change the lives and the status quo for the queer community and we can’t do it without your help. As a young grass roots organization, we’re funded primarily by community members and supporters just like you.
Every donation helps us fulfill our promise of safety, support, and mentorship to the LGBTQ+ community.
Right now, that means providing access to shelter, food, clothes, and support groups like PRISM club, but together we hope to bring a flagship community center to the panhandle to provide so much more.
